Raising standards in financial advice: Cohesion and the Consumer Duty Alliance

Reinforcing our commitment to fairness, transparency and client-first planning.

Since launching in January 2026, Cohesion Financial Solutions has been a member of the Consumer Duty Alliance, a collaborative initiative focused on raising standards across financial services and supporting firms to deliver better outcomes for clients.

Consumer Duty is a framework introduced by the Financial Conduct Authority to help ensure financial firms act in their clients’ best interests, communicate clearly and deliver good outcomes. By being part of the Consumer Duty Alliance, we commit to higher standards of fairness, transparency and care. For our clients, this means every recommendation and plan we create is designed with your best interests in mind, not simply meeting regulatory requirements, but aiming to exceed them.

The Alliance brings together professionals, advisers and organisations committed to embedding the principles of Consumer Duty in a practical and meaningful way, helping ensure financial services work in the best interests of the people they serve.

For Cohesion, this aligns naturally with how we believe financial planning should work. From the outset, our focus has been on building long-term relationships with clients based on trust, clarity and thoughtful guidance. Being part of the Consumer Duty Alliance reinforces our commitment to client-first financial planning and reflects our belief that advice should always be clear, fair and centred on the people we support.

Paul explains, ‘Financial planning is built on trust. Being part of the Consumer Duty Alliance reflects the way we believe advice should work. It should be clear, transparent and genuinely focused on helping people make confident decisions about their future.’

Claire Mellon, Co-founder and Chief Client Officer at Cohesion, also sits on the Consumer Duty Alliance Practitioner Panel. The panel brings together experienced professionals from across the industry to support the development of practical, high-quality resources designed to help firms deliver better outcomes for clients.

Financial planning should empower people to make confident decisions about their future. Our involvement in the Consumer Duty Alliance reflects our ongoing commitment to advice that is not only compliant with regulation, but genuinely centred on the needs of the people we support.
